Terms of Service

Last updated November 4, 2026 · Plato app (web, Mac, Ring companion)

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Augmentation Company (“we”, “us”), 95 Minna St, Floor 3, San Francisco, CA 94105, United States (Doppel Labs). They cover your use of the Plato app: the Plato web app, the Plato Mac app, and the Plato Ring companion software (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Pre-orders of the Plato Ring hardware are covered by our Terms of sale, not by these Terms.

2. Who can use Plato

  • You must be at least 18 years old, and able to form a binding contract.
  • The Service is offered to people in the United States.
  • You must give accurate information when you sign up.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with your email address and a code we send you. You may also sign in with a Google account where we offer it.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us right away at support@plato.it.com if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One person per account. Do not share it.

4. What Plato does

Plato is a personal assistant. You can dictate text, change text you select, and ask Plato to do tasks across tools you connect, such as drafting and sending email, checking your calendar, creating meeting links, adding tasks, and saving notes to your Google Drive.

Features change. Some features are in alpha and may be missing, slow or wrong (see section 12).

5. You stay in control: Plato asks first

Plato is built to ask before it acts for you. Before it sends an email, books or changes an event, creates a file, adds a task or posts a message, it shows you what it will do and waits for you to approve.

  • Read what Plato shows you before you approve. When you approve, you are the one who sends, books, creates or posts.
  • You are responsible for anything you approve.
  • Plato does not choose who you are, and it cannot give itself permissions you have not given.

6. AI output can be wrong

Plato uses AI models. They can be wrong, incomplete, out of date, or misunderstand you. They can mishear speech. Plato may make mistakes in names, dates, numbers, addresses and times.

  • Check Plato's output before you rely on it, send it, or act on it.
  • Do not use Plato as the only source for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
  • We do not guarantee that Plato's output is accurate, safe, or fit for your purpose.

7. Your content

  • You own your content. What you say, type, upload or connect (“Your Content”) stays yours. We do not claim ownership of it.
  • A license to run the Service. You give us a limited, non-exclusive right to host, process, copy and transmit Your Content, only as needed to provide the Service to you and to keep it secure. This includes sending it to our service providers (listed in the Privacy policy) to run the Service.
  • No training. We do not use Your Content to train AI models, ours or anyone else's. Our Privacy policy has the details.
  • Your responsibility. You promise you have the right to use Your Content and to connect the accounts you connect, and that Your Content does not break the law or anyone's rights.
  • Output. As between you and us, you own the output Plato makes for you, to the extent the law allows.

8. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • break the law, or use Plato to harm, harass, threaten, defraud or impersonate anyone;
  • send spam or unwanted bulk messages, or use Plato to deceive people about who is writing;
  • upload or ask Plato to create content that exploits children, or other illegal content;
  • try to break, probe, overload or get around the Service's security, limits or approvals;
  • try to make Plato ignore its rules, for example by hiding instructions in documents or messages;
  • reverse engineer the Service, or copy or resell it, except where the law allows;
  • use the Service to build a competing product, or to train other AI models;
  • use the Service in a way that breaks the terms of a service you connect or an AI provider you use.

We may limit or stop use that breaks these rules.

9. Connected services

You can connect Plato to other services, for example Google (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, Tasks, Contacts).

  • You choose what to connect, and what Plato may do with each. You can disconnect at any time. Plato stops using the access at once, then revokes it.
  • Plato asks each service for specific permissions. Plato acts only within the permissions you give.
  • Your use of a connected service is also covered by that service's own terms and privacy policy. For Google, see the Google Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
  • Plato's use of information it receives from Google is described in the Privacy policy and follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
  • We do not control connected services. They may change, fail, or block Plato. We are not responsible for them.
  • An email, invitation or message you approve is sent from your own account. Once sent, we cannot take it back.

10. Your own AI keys

You may add your own API key from another AI provider (for example Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI, Perplexity or OpenRouter) so Plato can send a request to it for you.

  • You are responsible for the key, for the provider's terms, and for any charges that provider makes to you.
  • You promise you are allowed to use the key.
  • We store the key only to use it for your requests, and we send it only to the provider you chose. You can remove it at any time.
  • Your request goes to that provider. We do not control what that provider does with it.
  • Remove a key at once if you think it has been exposed, and rotate it with the provider.

11. Fees

The Plato app is free while it is in alpha. We may add paid plans later. If we do, we will tell you first, and you will not be charged unless you agree to a price.

Plato Ring pre-orders are a separate purchase under our Terms of sale. A pre-order does not change these Terms.

12. Alpha and beta service

The Service is in alpha. It is provided for early testing. It may have bugs, change, be interrupted, or lose data. We may add, change or remove features at any time. Do not rely on it for anything critical, and keep your own copy of anything important.

13. Privacy

Our Privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who receives it. It is part of these Terms in the sense that using the Service means you accept it.

14. Our property

The Service, Plato, its marks, designs and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service under these Terms. If you send us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.

15. Ending your use

  • You can stop at any time. Disconnect services, delete your History and memories in the app, or email support@plato.it.com to close your account.
  • We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires, if we need to protect the Service or other people, or if we end the alpha.
  • Deleting your account. When you delete your account, it is locked and your data is deleted as described in the Privacy policy.
  • Sections that should survive ending (your content rights, disclaimers, limits of liability, governing law, and disputes) continue after your use ends.

16. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE CORRECT.

Some places do not allow some disclaimers, so some of this may not apply to you.

17. Limitation of liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST DATA, OR LOST BUSINESS, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY WERE POSSIBLE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS ($100).

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including consumer protections that apply to you under California law.

18. Indemnity

You will defend and cover us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from Your Content, from what you approve Plato to do, or from your breach of these Terms or the law, to the extent the law allows.

19. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that is not settled informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you and we agree to those courts. Before filing a claim, please email support@plato.it.com so we can try to fix it. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer protections of the state where you live.

20. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the date above. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

21. General

  • If a part of these Terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If we do not enforce a right, we have not given it up.
  • You may not transfer these Terms without our consent. We may transfer them in a sale or merger of the company.
  • These Terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement for the Service. The Terms of sale cover Ring pre-orders.
